Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Allies,
The New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault (NJCASA) values and appreciates every opportunity to elevate the discourse about sexual violence. Every interview gives us a chance to shed light on the impact and prevalence of sexual violence, but most interviews get edited down to small sound bites that speak to a specific priority within the large spectrum of our work.
For this reason, I was was thrilled to have an opportunity to record an hour-long podcast with Paul Brubaker from The Backgrounder, which was posted today on NJ.com. Our casual conversation navigates a wide range of topics including gender norms, prevention, Tinder, campus sexual assault, policy/advocacy, the role of parents and caring adults, rape culture, civil disobedience, statistics, power and control, media literacy, consent, mandatory reporting, bystander intervention, low prosecution rates, civil statute of limitations, budget appropriations, lifetime cost of victimization, false reporting myths, and even a few pop culture references! Whew!
Today, the article and podcast link were published on NJ.com. We hope you’ll listen. If you’ve ever wondered about the role of NJCASA and the work we do, this is a great place to start!
Sincerely,
Patricia Teffenhart, MPA
